Working Close to the Ground

A new body of work from my recent residency at Township 10, made exclusively using clay I dug from the ground on site, plant ashes from the property, and feldspar rocks sourced from nearby.

Woodfired work:

Many of these woodfired ceramic vessels are made with wild clay and local materials gathered in Western North Carolina. All of these pieces were fired in a wood kiln, where flame, ash, and reduction cooling create rich dynamic surfaces on raw clay— a collaboration with the fire and the many hands that tended it.
